Nokia Seeks to Enter Digital Health Arena With Withings Bid


Nokia announced plans Tuesday to acquire Withings S.A., a French maker of of fitness trackers and other digital health products and apps in a bid to bolster its technology licensing portfolio in one of the most promising verticals emerging in the Internet of Things. 

Withings will be part of Nokia Technologies, an advanced technology and licensing business the Finnish telecommunications giant formed in 2014 as it was selling its handset business to Microsoft. 

The planned transaction values Withings at EUR 170 million and would be settled in cash and is expected to close in early Q3, 2016 subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Read the full article here
